2.       Do not form a group.  It is normal to have a companion on you work especially if you are working on a group basis.  But do not practice yourself up to the point that you limit your time only to your buddy. Have time to explore the life of others and make friends with them. It is the best way to enjoy your journey as a seafarer.

3.       Do not pinpoint or blame others. If there will be an accident or failures on your work, some seafarers tend to blame others simply because that’s the nature of people. They put the consequence of their failure to others just to hide their own mistake. But to tell you honestly, it is an unhealthy habit. A true mariner is bound by integrity. It would be better if you make a mistake then admit it.   No need to be ashamed and from that your colleagues might admire you most.

It might also build a barrier between you and your fellow seafarer. Remember that there is no rule about lowering your pride. It does not affect you as human, so don’t hesitate.  At the end, you will see the results of being humble.

5.       Help others and offer your service. Working on board ship is not an easy thing. You might say, “I’m tired”, “I want to give up” and so on. But it’s natural. You’re not a robot so basically you get tired. Those lines are very common in a mariner knowing that they working together on a same place or even in a confined place. So what is the best thing that you can do? If you have your spare time and you think you can help them, don’t hesitate to offer your service. Ability to help others is a blessing and rewarding.
